Pupillage Vacancy Information
Church Court Chambers is a leading set with a proud reputation for being professional, approachable and modern. Chambers’ main practice areas are crime, regulatory, family, immigration and extradition, however, many individual members have their own areas of specialism (for example sports law and international public law).
Chambers’ members, including 45 juniors and 4 King’s Counsel, enjoy busy and varied practices; collectively they have an enviable back catalogue of high-profile and complex matters such as the Marrache Fraud Case, the FA Southwark Bribery and Corruption Trial, and the Vietnamese Lorry case where the defendants faced 39 counts of manslaughter. They have appeared at every level, including in the Supreme Court, Privy Council and the European Court of Human Rights. Individually they are all highly regarded and respected by their peers and the judiciary.
Structure of Pupillage
Pupillage will be for 12 months with at least 3 supervisors within our Criminal Group, where pupils will gain experience of Prosecution and Defence work, and pupils can expect to be on their feet every day during their second six. We stress that despite being a multidisciplinary set, the pupillage will focus almost exclusively on Crime.
Funding is £26,400 a year: £2200 pupillage award monthly in the first six months, and £2000 guaranteed earnings and £200 a month travel award monthly in the second six months.
Equality Diversity and Inclusion
Church Court Chambers pride ourselves on recognising the importance of diversity and inclusion and we offer a supportive and nurturing environment to all members and
staff whatever their background, race, age, gender or sexuality. We also offer premises which are fully accessible to those with disabilities.
