Pupillage Vacancy Information
About Authorised Education and Training Organisation
Crown Office Chambers have over 100 leading commercial and common law barristers, arbitrators and mediators based mainly in London, working throughout England and Wales and internationally.
Crown Office Chambers is an Equal Opportunities employer and adheres to an Equality & Diversity statement, available on our website. We welcome applicants from underrepresented groups. We will make reasonable adjustments to assist candidates through recruitment. Through the Pupillage Gateway, we also use the RARE contextual recruitment system to help us identify outstanding candidates.
Structure of Pupillage
Pupils sit with two pupil supervisors in their first six months and one in their second, but are likely to work with a number of different members of chambers practising in different fields of work over the course of the year.
The pupillage year includes three written assessments (which are blind double marked) and two/three advocacy assessments.
Pupils appear in court regularly during their second six, generally handling applications and small trials in the county courts, affording ample opportunity to develop advocacy skills. Chambers also organises a series of advocacy training sessions.
Financial
We offer up to three pupillages annually, each with an award of £90,000 comprising £75,000 plus guaranteed earnings of £15,000 in your second Six. A drawdown of up to £20,000 from the pupillage award is available in advance.
