Field Court Chambers – 12 Months – September 2026

Pupillage Vacancy Information

About Authorised Education and Training Organisation and Structure of Pupillage

Field Court Chambers is a leading set of barristers and mediators. Our main areas of practice are business, employment, family, housing, property, public law and Court of Protection.

We have 48 barristers who practice in a wide range of areas (see below). 11 of our members hold at least one part-time judicial role. Others have published books or contribute to loose leaf publications.

Around half of our barristers are ranked in one or both legal directories in practice areas ranging from employment, property litigation to inquests and inquiries.

We are recognised as a set by Chambers and Partners and Legal 500 for our housing law expertise and by Legal 500 for our children law and for our Court of Protection and community care practices.

Our clients range from national, regional and local solicitors to government agencies and local authorities. In 2023, following a competitive tender process, we were reappointed to the London Boroughs’ Legal Alliance Barristers Legal Services Framework Agreement for another 3 years in each of the 7 areas for which we tendered.

Some of our barristers also accept instructions under the direct public access rules.

Your pupillage at Field Court will be divided into 3 or 4 seats during which you will gain experience in our main practice areas.

Conveniently the bulk of our work is in London and the South-East.

Financial and Other Support Available

During your second six, we ensure you will earn £25,000 - though our pupils generally exceed these earning targets.

Other support:

  • As a pupil, you will be assigned a mentor (generally a junior member within their first few years of tenancy) to offer guidance as you start your professional career.

  • Additionally, in your first six you will also participate in various advocacy exercises to prepare you for your second six (when you can expect to be appearing regularly in court on your own cases).

We pride ourselves on being collegiate and supportive as a set and have a wellbeing programme to support barristers,  pupils and staff to achieve a healthy work-life balance.

Equality Diversity and Inclusion

We support and promote equal opportunity and treatment for all, regardless of sex, race, colour, ethnic or national origin, marital status, disability, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, pregnancy, maternity, religion, belief, or age.

In accordance with the Equality Act 2010, Chambers will consider any request for reasonable adjustments.   Please contact our Chambers Director Delia Lees-Buckley or Jared Norman on 020 7405 6114.
