Fraser Chambers – 12 Months – October 2025

Pupillage Vacancy Information

About Authorised Education and Training Organisation and Structure of Pupillage

Based in the Cheesegrater Building, overlooking the heart of the City, Fraser Chambers specialises in Defamation, Public Law (inquests and professional regulatory proceedings) and Litigation involving High Net Worth Individuals, including private prosecutions. We are a modern, professional, and friendly set and are seeking to recruit a pupil to start a 12-month pupillage with us commencing in October 2025 with a view to tenancy.

Applicants will be expected to demonstrate very high intellectual ability, usually via academic achievement, and excellent written and oral advocacy skills. We look for applicants with an aptitude for, and an interest in, practice as a barrister in our specialist areas.

After an initial shortlisting process, those shortlisted will be invited for interview. The entire selection process is carried out in accordance with a set of competency-based selection criteria.

Pupillage includes secondment at a firm of solicitors. In the second six months, the pupil can expect to be on their feet in court, conducting mainly short application hearings. Every effort is made to prepare the pupil fully for life at the
Bar. The Pupil Supervisor provide regular feedback to their pupils regarding their progress.

Fraser Chambers is accepting applications from candidates with a degree class 2:1. However, we will accept a 2:2 in extenuating circumstances.
The hope and expectation is that the successful applicant will join us as a tenant at the end of their 12 month pupillage.
Decisions about tenancy are made at the conclusion of 12 months’ pupillage. The outcome of any such applications will be to offer a tenancy, not to offer a tenancy, or possibly, if it is considered there is potential, to offer a third six.

Financial and Other Support Available

Pupillage award of £24,203 per annum.  This is paid in monthly equal amounts. Please note that there are no guaranteed earnings in the second six. Travel is paid, except for travel covered by a London travel card.

It is our policy to treat everybody equally and fairly, and we assess all applications on merit alone, without reference to the candidates’ race, sex, pregnancy and maternity, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, marriage and civil partnership, disability, age, religion or belief. Race encompasses colour, ethnic or national origin and nationality.
