About AETO and Structure of Pupillage
Goldsmith Chambers is a leading common-law set of more than 100 members, with crime, immigration, civil and family practice groups. We are a modern, professional and friendly set with a thriving group of junior practitioners. Applications are invited for one 12-month pupillage commencing October 2023. Our pupillage is predominantly a criminal pupillage, although there may be opportunities for pupils to experience work in our other areas of practice.
Our pupils can expect to be in court practically every day. Every effort is made to prepare pupils fully for life at the Bar, including a programme of advocacy training by members of chambers. Pupil supervisors provide regular feedback to their pupils regarding their progress.
Decisions about tenancy are made at the conclusion of the 12-month pupillage. Pupillage is offered with a view to Chambers considering pupils as prospective tenants.
Goldsmith Chambers will accept applications from candidates with a degree of class 2:1 or higher, but will consider those holding class 2:2 in extenuating circumstances.
After an initial shortlisting process by members of the Pupillage and Tenancy Committee, shortlisted candidates will be invited for interview. The entire selection process is carried out in accordance with a transparent set of selection criteria, full details of which can be found on the Chambers website www.goldsmithchambers.com.
