About Authorised Education and Training Organisation and Structure of Pupillage

The AETO is a BSB regulated limited company and is part of a barristers chambers, JSC England & Wales, see www.jsc-chambers.co.uk.  The pupillage supervisor will be Joseph Chiffers.  Time will be spent with other staff within the entity and the chambers as appropriate.    

Financial and Other Support Available

Guaranteed Earnings – pupillage minimum award, additional amounts payable depending on performance and circumstances

How to Apply

Applications to be by covering letter and CV.  The covering letter must be sent by post to Joseph Chiffers PO Box 161 Frodsham WA6 1DD and must address the matters set out below.  
The covering letter referred to above must address:
  1. Why the candidate is applying for pupillage at JSC Chambers.
  2. Why the Applicant would wish to stay on as a tenant after pupillage. 
  3. The Applicant’s knowledge of JSC Chambers & Joseph Chiffers.
  4. Details of the Applicant’s advocacy and drafting ability.
  5. Details of the Applicant’s commercial aptitude and how they would attract new clients.
  6. The Applicant’s knowledge and experience of client care.
  7. The Applicant’s general interests and a statement as to how they would fit with JSC Chambers.
After addressing the 7 points stated above, the candidate may include any other information that they consider relevant to their pupillage application.  We would be grateful if candidates could exercise reasonable judgement when including such additional information and keep the covering letter as succinct as possible.
