Pupillage Vacancy Information
About Authorised Education and Training Organisation & Structure of Pupillage
Lamb Building is a long-established common law set, centrally located in the Temple, in the heart of London, with an annexe in the centre of Brighton. As a common law set we offer expertise across a wide range of complimentary legal areas.
Our practice areas are diverse, covering both public and private law. Key areas of work include:
Criminal Law: We defend and prosecute cases at all levels of seriousness, both nationally and internationally. This includes homicide, serious violence, sexual offences, fraud, drugs and regulatory crime. We are frequently instructed in serious and complex criminal cases as both defence and prosecution counsel.
Family Law: We specialise in private and public children law, with members instructed on behalf of parents and guardians, financial relief and matrimonial property work, cases involving domestic abuse, and proceedings in the Court of Protection. Members have particular expertise in cases involving children and clients with additional educational needs and vulnerabilities
Inquests & Public Inquiries.
Civil Law: Including personal injury, probate and housing law.
Military Law: Representing service personnel at all levels of the Criminal and Service Justice Systems.
We have a strong overall reputation and are consistently ranked as a Leading Criminal Set on the South Eastern Circuit.
Pupillage is expected to last 12 months. As Chambers covers a diverse range of work we are usually able to allocate supervisors who practice in the areas of particular interest to our pupils.
Each pupil will have a supervisor and a secondary supervisor. The supervisors need not practice in the same area of law and are often from varying levels of call. The intention is to provide as much flexibility as possible within pupillage and offer a wide ranging training programme. With this in mind, every four months pupils will receive a new supervisor team and are encouraged to experience the range of work available in Chambers.
We embrace the use of technology to increase the efficiency of our training. Specialist training sessions are carried out by members and ex members of Chambers.
Supervisors are available in crime, family and civil.
Financial and Other Support Available
The total award is £30,000 consisting of £15,000 grant across the 1st six and guaranteed earnings of £15,000 in 2nd six.
How much a pupil can earn over and above the guaranteed minimum in their second six is affected by a variety of factors such as the work load at the time and the practice area they work in.
Pupils are provided with financial support in relation to travel expenses and chambers will cover the cost of any compulsory courses which are attended during the first six.
