Linenhall Chambers is the only Chambers based solely in Chester.  We comprises of 65 barristers and 10 KCs taking instructions in all aspects of criminal, family and civil law. Our barristers cover work mainly, but not exclusively, across North and Mid Wales, the Northwest, Shropshire and Herefordshire. Linenhall also accepts Direct Access work. 
 
Structure of Pupillage
We are offering  2 pupillages each lasting 12 months. Pupils will have the opportunity to focus on each of our areas of expertise.

We look for candidates who demonstrate intellectual ability, are well motivated, have capacity for sustained hard work under pressure and who are enthusiastic and confident. We expect applicants to have a 2:1 degree classification, however we will consider applicants who do not meet this criterion in extenuating circumstances.

 Pupils and can expect the following in their first six: 

  • Attend hearings and conferences with their supervisor, solicitor and lay clients
  • Assisting the supervisor in drafting documents and advice
  • Attend a 2 week placement with the Crown Prosecution Service, towards the end of their first 6 months
  • Participate in social/marketing events.

Linenhall Chambers  makes a considerable investment in its pupils, our aim is for  pupils become valued tenants who will continue our success into the future.


Financial and Other Support Available

During the first six months of pupillage a grant of £12,000 is made to all pupils and during the second six months there is an earnings guarantee of £16,000. In addition we also offer:


  • Reasonable travel expenses 
  • Compulsory training costs;
  • Access to online legal resources
