Pupillage Vacancy Information
London View Chambers as an AETO, or an Authorised Education and Training Organisation, plays a crucial role in the legal training pathway, particularly for aspiring barristers. London View Chambers are authorised by the Bar Standards Board (BSB) to deliver pupillage, ensuring that the training provided meets the required standards for professional competence.
- Total: 12 months.
- Divided Into:
- First Six: Non-practising period.
- Second Six: Practising period.
- Activities: Observation, learning, and supervised work.
- Financial Support: £12,000 paid in six equal monthly instalments.
- Expenses: Reimbursement for reasonable travel expenses when not traveling to Chambers or with the supervisor.
- Activities: Independent practice, earning fees from own work.
- Financial Support: Guaranteed minimum monthly income of £2000.
- Clerks' Fees: 10% fee on all fees collected by Chambers.
- Expenses: Reimbursement for travel related to pupillage, excluding practice-related travel.
- Pupil Supervisors: Supervision by trained and experienced Supervisors during 12 Months
- Training Focus: Developing skills and attributes as per the Professional Statement for Barristers.
- Certification: Submit a certificate after the non-practising period and apply for a Full Practising Certificate after completing the practising period.

To apply for a pupillage at London View Chambers, you should follow these steps:
Prerequisites Before Applying:
- Legal Work Status: Ensure you are legally allowed to work in the United Kingdom.
- Educational Requirements:
- Have completed or be scheduled to complete either a law degree (2:2 or higher) or any other degree (2:2 or higher) combined with the GDL (Graduate Diploma in Law).
- Be scheduled to complete the BPTC (Bar Professional Training Course) or another England and Wales bar qualification (e.g., Bar Transfer Test) before the commencement of pupillage.
Documents Required Before Commencement:
- Evidence of satisfactorily completed academic and vocational training components within a 5-year limit.
- Proof of membership of an Inn.
- Evidence that you have been Called to the Bar.
- Relevant immigration visas if applicable.
- Any waivers granted by the Bar Standards Board (BSB).
- A DBS check (which the firm will pay for). If you have a DBS check dated within the last 12 months, it can be accepted.

- Application Window: The application must be submitted between 26th August 2024 (12:01 AM) and 14th September 2024 (11:59 PM). Applications outside this window will not be accepted.
Interview Schedule:
- Interviews will be held between September 23rd and September 25th 2024.
Offer Timeline:
- Offers will be made by September 27th 2024.
- The deadline to accept the offer will be October 4th. If the offer is not accepted by this date, it will be extended to other selected candidates.
