Generally, training will be undertaken in house with potential for secondment to local chambers for periods of the 1st 6.
Second six months will be working closely with Partners and other fee earners to take on drafting, advising clients in person and in written form and representing clients in court.
Alongside general civil litigation, the firm has busy, probate and residential/ commercial property practices, with increasing degrees of contentious work undertaken in both areas. The new in-house barrister role will take on the workload of contentious matters, under the supervision of the firm’s partners, to provide advice, drafting and court appearances, currently outsourced to counsel in chambers.
The practices the firm focus on, bring with them regular related matters such as Landlord and Tennant, general contractual disputes and advice to clients on boundary disputes.
In addition to the above, the firm have a growing Art, Antiquities and Cultural Heritage practice that the firm continue to grow, and is already producing contentious work that the new pupil will be required to advise and represent on.
The office environment is small, friendly and close-knit and applications are encouraged from those interested in a long term, predominantly paper practice role, based in the West Country, with appearances in local courts.
The firm offers pupillage with a view to taking on the qualified barrister full time on successful completion.
