Pendragon Chambers - 12 months - September 2026

Pupillage Vacancy Information

Pendragon Chambers – Pupillage Opportunities for 2026 and 2027

Pendragon Chambers is a small, welcoming set based in Swansea, South Wales. We are offering two mixed pupillages that will begin in September 2026 and February 2027. Chambers is growing, and the recruitment of new members is an important part of our plans. Pupillage is offered with a genuine and serious view to tenancy for those who meet the required standard.

We are known for our friendly and supportive culture. Our size allows us to work closely with pupils and to give consistent guidance throughout the year. Pupils are integrated into the day-to-day life of chambers and quickly become part of the team. They receive regular feedback and have frequent opportunities to observe and assist experienced practitioners. We believe in clear supervision, open communication and practical training that prepares pupils for life as junior tenants.

Our main areas of work are family and civil law. We act in private family disputes, public law children matters, housing cases, and a wide range of civil litigation. Alongside this, we have a developing criminal team. Pupils will gain experience in all these areas and will see a broad range of hearings and casework. This mixed practice reflects the reality of junior work and helps pupils build a strong foundation from the start of their careers.

Training at Pendragon Chambers is hands-on. Pupils accompany members to court regularly and take part in conferences and case preparation. They learn how to draft documents, prepare bundles, and manage client communication. As the year progresses, pupils take on their own advocacy and paperwork with appropriate support. Our aim is to provide steady, structured development and to give pupils the confidence needed for independent practice.

We welcome applicants who want to work across family, civil and crime. Good communication skills are essential, both written and spoken. We look for candidates who show clear thinking, sound judgment and the ability to engage with clients professionally. Pupillage at Pendragon is busy and varied, so applicants should be organised, resilient and able to manage competing demands. We also value teamwork. Chambers works best when members support each other, and we look for pupils who will contribute positively to our working environment.

Pupillage with us is designed with tenancy in mind. We aim to produce junior practitioners who are ready to take on a mixed practice and who feel confident in their abilities. Those who complete a successful pupillage will be considered for tenancy based on merit, potential and the needs of chambers. Our decision-making process is fair, transparent and focused on long-term growth.
