Pupillage Vacancy Information
About Authorised Education and Training Organisation
We are a highly regarded Chancery set of chambers based in London, specialising in private client, Court of Protection, partnership, property and commercial chancery work. Our size means that no one is lost in the crowd. We maintain a friendly and relaxed atmosphere while still producing a first-rate service for our clients. We have an experienced clerks’ team who take an active role in ensuring the success of each member’s practice.
Structure of Pupillage
The pupillage is structured so that you can see the full range of chambers’ work. You will have two pupil supervisors and will sit with two other members of chambers, all of whom are recognised by the legal directories. Evaluation takes place through discussion with your supervisor and monthly written reviews. We do not make you do formal assessments, although you will be given advocacy exercises.
During the second six months, there will be opportunities for you to undertake work of your own, although the focus will remain on learning from your supervisors.
Financial and Other Support Available
The award pupillage award is £75,000, with up to a quarter available for draw down in the preceding year. Chambers will pay for travel and accommodation where work is required outside of London.
Equality Diversity and Inclusion
We are committed to widening access to the Bar to those from under-represented backgrounds, but we know we need to do better.
We keep our recruitment process under regular review to ensure it is conducted openly, objectively, fairly and inclusively. All those involved in recruitment have had fair recruitment and unconscious bias training. We recently took part in a reverse mentoring scheme to review our recruitment and E&D policies.
Our clerks have undertaken approved equality and diversity training and only they are permitted to allocate unassigned work. Allocation data is recorded and scrutinised by the management committee monthly and at least annually by our equality and diversity officers.
We are signed up to Chambers UK Diversity and Inclusion Charter, a global initiative to promote a diverse and inclusive legal profession.
Our Accessibility Officer is Susannah Meadway (susannahmeadway@tenoldsquare.com).
