Pupillage Vacancy Information
About Authorised Education and Training Organisation
Linenhall Chambers is the only Chambers based solely in Chester. We comprise a strong team of 65 barristers and 10 KCs, taking instructions across all aspects of criminal, family, and civil law. Our expertise spans North and Mid Wales, the Northwest, Shropshire, and Herefordshire. Linenhall Chambers also welcomes Direct Access instructions.
Structure of Pupillage
Linenhall Chambers is offering two 12-month pupillages. Pupils will have the opportunity to gain experience across all of our core areas of expertise.
We look for candidates who demonstrate intellectual ability, strong motivation, the capacity for sustained hard work under pressure, and who are both enthusiastic and confident. We typically expect applicants to hold a 2:1 degree classification. However, we will consider applicants who do not meet this criterion where extenuating circumstances apply.
First Six responsibilities
Pupils can expect the following during their first six months:
Attend hearings and conferences with their supervisor, solicitors, and lay clients.
Assist the supervisor in drafting documents and legal advice.
Attend a two-week placement with the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), towards the end of the first six months.
Participate in relevant social and marketing events.
Linenhall Chambers makes a significant investment in its pupils. Our overarching aim is for pupils to become valued tenants who will contribute to and continue our success into the future.
Financial and Other Support Available
During the first six months of pupillage a grant of £12,000 is made to all pupils in equally monthly installements and during the second six months there is an earnings guarantee of £18,000. In addition we also offer:
- Reasonable travel expenses
- Compulsory training costs;
- Access to online legal resources
