Pupillage Vacancy Information
About Authorised Education and Training Organisation
15 Winckley Square Chambers is a thriving common law set with strong teams in all aspects of family and criminal law.
We are offering 1 Family and 1 Criminal Pupillage with the latest commencement date being September 2025. It may, in appropriate circumstances, be possible for one of the pupillages to start before September 2025.
The pupillage is with a view to tenancy, and we have a proven track record in this respect having offered all our pupils a tenancy for over 20 years.
We believe we have an excellent system for recruitment and training evidenced by the large number of successful practitioners we have 'home grown'.
The pupils and junior members in our chambers have enjoyed much success in terms of prizes, merit-based scholarships, service as Circuit Junior, Specialist Bar Association Committees and on Bar Council Committees.
Senior members of the family team and criminal team have an impressive track record of success in applications for part-time and full-time judicial appointments and for appointment as King's Counsel.
A pupillage in the family team involves exposure to the widest range of work at all levels and always follows our detailed training programme and Pupillage Policy.
Pupil supervisors are highly experienced practitioners and are matched carefully to the pupil to ensure that the pupil has the best possible experience when training.
A pupillage in the criminal team provides the strong foundation of quality work from a very loyal professional client base as well as more work focussed around Crown Court cases.
The successful candidates can expect to be fully integrated into Chambers' life, enjoying the opportunity to attend all training, marketing and social events.
There is a strong ethos of commitment to wellbeing with 2 designated wellbeing officers appointed to each team.
Structure of Pupillage
The pupillage will be for 12 months funded at £1760.00 pcm plus travel expenses to Court for the first six and at £1910.00 pcm plus travel expenses to Court for the second six (which exceeds the minimum currently prescribed by the Bar Standards Board).
In the second six, payment will be made on an income guarantee basis.
Historically, our pupils tend to earn above this level after a maximum of a couple of months on their feet.
Equality Diversity and Inclusion
Work is allocated to the pupil in the second six in accordance with Chambers' Equality and Diversity, Fair Access to Work and Reasonable Adjustments policies.
