About Authorised Education and Training Organisation and Structure of Pupillage
Amicus Chambers is a specialist family law set based in Middlesbrough in the North East of England. Chambers primary areas of practice are public family law and private law children’s proceedings. Chambers has a vast amount of experience in these areas.
Chambers, due to its small size, can offer a fairly unique pupillage experience. Whilst each pupil will have an assigned supervisor, time will be spent with various members of chambers to ensure pupils see work across all areas and all levels of experience. This also means that chambers is a very supportive environment given that all members of chambers know one another.
During second six, pupils can expect to undertake a variety of work including public law proceedings representing local authorities, parents, and children. Experience will also be gained undertaking private law children cases, for parents and children, as well as proceedings involving domestic abuse and protective orders.
Amicus Chambers are looking to offer two pupillages, one commencing in September 2025 and one commencing in September 2026.

Chambers is committed to recruiting suitable candidates and has in the past when it has been unable to determine between one or more suitable candidate offered more than one pupillage. This will continue to be at Chambers discretion and exercised where appropriate.
Financial and Other Support Available
Chambers will ensure that the pupillage payment is split evenly across the 12 months of pupillage. During first 6 payment will be £1,834.91 paid directly by chambers. During second 6 pupils can expect to earn substantially more than £1,834.91 per month and earnings will be their own, chambers rent will not be expected. If pupils for some reason earned less than £1,834.91 in a month, chambers would ensure any shortfall was met to ensure a minimum level of income during second six.
